Hephaestus is a kit added on April 5, 2024. His special items are mechs equipped with chainsaws, which can be ridden to unleash damaging abilities and tank damage. He could be unlocked by reaching level 50 in the Season 10 Battle Pass, and currently can be unlocked by purchasing him directly for 12,000 BedCoins or
479 Robux , by opening him from a lucky crate, or by being gifted him by someone else via
Robux . He is in the
tank class.
Abilities[]
- Main article: Mech
Summon Talos Mech[]
Hephaestus can recall his mech after it Self-Destructs or is destroyed, summoning the mech from the sky. Hephaestus will mount the mech after 1 second, beginning from when it has landed from the sky. There is an initial 15 second cooldown before the player can recall the mech after they originally lost the mech.
Hephaestus spawns and starts the match riding a Wood Talos mech equipped with a Wood Chainsaw. The Wood Mech grants Hephaestus 100 shield, increasing his total HP to 130, while the Wood Chainsaw deals 25 damage with a 0.3 second cooldown. Hephaestus can buy upgraded versions of the mech inside the item shop. Purchasing these mechs also upgrades the chainsaw to its respective material, increasing its damage, up to the Void Mech. While the Mechs may share the same material as armor, they are usually weaker, however, the Mechs can try to make up for this with their on-demand healing and arrow resistance.
Drawbacks[]
Hephaestus himself is only 1 block tall and has 30 HP, but has slightly increased speed. He also has the tinker's wrench which replaces the chainsaw whenever he is not riding his mech.
Strategy[]
Hephaestus can be a mediocre kit if you use him wrong, and is difficult to master. In essence, he's similar to Eldertree with an abundance of HP, decent DPS and a large hitbox. The mech's chainsaw swings are a bit different than a standard sword, so timing hits is essential to succeed in combat. Additionally, you should aim on getting as many emeralds to max out your mech as soon as possible to have as much damage and health as possible. The mech's large hitbox makes it quite susceptible to projectiles, so if someone is using a bow you should have blocks ready to construct cover. You should however, prioritise the Emerald Mech over anything, but a Diamond Mech with an enchant can hold the middle of the map somewhat effectively, making it easier to get the required emeralds for your next Mech. However, beware of Static, as that will greatly reduce your survivability, as even though the Mech is tanky, tanks are supposed to collapse under heavy focus fire, your Mech should differentiate between top priority and low priority, as if your Mech is on the brink of destruction, your life matters more than a Mech that can be summoned back. You should really only take 1 on 1 fights if you are in a Diamond Mech or lower, as you have no forms of AOE or easily escaping, however, if your opponents are undergeared, you can attempt a 2 on 1 fight, however, the odds are usually not in your favour. Once you aquire an Emerald Mech however, you become a pretty strong opponent, having access to Dark Decay, an AOE Attack, a helpful Self-Repair, and a powerful Self-Destruct system, Self-Destruct should however, only be used on unaware players who are generator camping in a base or standing still, as it's easy to avoid once you catch sight of it. If you fail a Self-Destruct, don't worry, as if someone is hit by it, they could be knocked backwards or upwards, which can greatly benefit your team, either voiding opponents or applying heavy fall damage to them.
Hephaestus can use the mech to break bed defenses effectively from the Self-Destruct explosion and can fit into 1 block gaps without the mech, making it hard for people to reach him. However, when Hephaestus's mech is destroyed he is quite vulnerable, leaving an opportunity for opponents to finish the job. Additionally, if you are not careful you might accidentally kill yourself with the explosion from the self destruct. While the Mech may do absurd damage when Self-Destructing, it usually fails to even get past stone without multiple explosions, you can use your smaller size to try sneak in, this usually fails to work unless you have someone help take the attention off of you, but even while inside the bed defense, you can still be hurt by AOE items like a Fireball, and Tesla Coils, due to your lower health, it will only take 8 ticks to kill you, unless you have some extra health from Forest, or other means, like Star Collector Stella's Vitality Stars.

Trivia[]
- Hephaestus has the same name as the Greek god of artisans, blacksmiths and craftsmen.
- This makes sense as Hephaestus controls a mech.
- Hephaestus is pronounced "Huh-fay-stuhs".
- This is the 7th kit that uses some sort of machinery or technology as their kit ability, first being Vulcan, second being Cyber, third being Cobalt, fourth being Zenith, fifth being Drill and sixth being Cogsworth.
- Hephaestus is the third kit to be able to buy a void-type item without using Void Crystals, being the Void Mech. The first kit is Void Regent with the void axe, and the second is Taliyah with Void Chickens.
- Hephaestus was originally called The High Tinker when it was first released.
- While piloting a mech, Hephaestus is completely immune to any form of execution, whether that be from Hannah or the execute enchant.
- This is because execute goes off base health, and not any additional shield.
- Upon release, there was a bug where he could be instantly executed by Hannah, no matter how much health he was on.
- Like Eldertree and Void Knight, Hephaestus cannot buy armor.
- If you look closely, you can see a swimming fish inside the mech of the Fish Tank skin.
- In the Increased Health Map Mechanic, Hephaestus gains an additional 15 HP, bringing his total health to 45.
- Hephaestus is the kit with the most kit-exclusive items, with 11 of them.
- Hephaestus' Iron Mech and all tiers above it, scale up to be 1 block taller than the Wood Mech, this however, does not apply to Fish Tank Hephaestus, as all his mechs remain to be 2 block tall.
- Hephaestus is the 3rd Battle Pass Kit to recieve a kit skin, with the 1st being Aery and the 2nd being Terra.
- On Season 10's release thumbnail Hephaestus was seen using his current render, however before Season 10's release, a render of him was leaked, which has gone unused since Season 10's release.
- This unused render has however, now been used on his current gamepass icon, likely due to mistake, and the developers not realising they used the outdated render.
- Hephaestus can move while summoning his mech, whether that be summoning it while falling or using a telepearl while summoning.
- This will most likely however, anticheat you after the mech has been ridden, and while your position may update on your client, the server will keep you in the same place.
- This can result in some dodgy kills, as you may see yourself far away from any players, but in reality, the server hasn't updated your position yet.
