Abilities[]
Mending Canopy[]
- Main article: Mending Canopy
Nyoka spawns with a Mending Canopy, which starts at Tier I and can be upgraded to Tier II for 4 Emeralds and Tier III for 8 Emeralds
. All allies within its range, shown by a transparent green circle, will be healed every while with the amount regenerated and cooldown depending on the staff's tier. On Tier II and onwards, enemies in the staff's range will be knocked back a bit every second, counting as Nyoka's hit, making the staff able to apply enchants.
Charge Staff[]
Pressing R with the staff equipped will make Nyoka raise it with both hands, charging the staff up to 100%. Each 1% increases the range of the staff up to by 0.01 of a block, whlist increasing the healing by 0.02. Nyoka will glide while he charges, and decreases the staff's effect cooldowns when charged above a specific charge percentage depending on the tier and making Nyoka glide when he falls. However, there is a bar that is consumed whenever the staff charges, and the staff will stop charging whenever it depletes or R is pressed again.
Overcharge Staff[]
If the third tier of the staff is unlocked, pressing X will instantly increase the charge effect to 100% without consuming any charge stamina. This ability has a cooldown of 60 seconds.
Strategy[]
Compared to other support kits with healing abilities, Nyoka stands out as the most potent, if used correctly. Not only does he have great survivability thanks to his staff's abilities, but he can also stay on the battlefield near his allies without risking death as much as other support kits. With reduced fall damage and self-healing, he is a force to be reckoned with. His Mending Canopy heals quickly once charged, and this healing is further amplified with higher tiers.
As Nyoka, utilize your staff not just to heal your teammates, but also to traverse the map and play a hit-and-run style. When engaging in fights, always be by your teammates' side and be willing to take hits if it means saving them, but pull back if you're close to death. Make sure to collect the necessary emeralds to upgrade the staff, as it is quite expensive.
The Mending Canopy heals based on ticks, providing a steady stream of healing when held out. For self-healing, you don't necessarily need to charge the staff; just hold it out during downtime. When alone, make use of its other ability, the glide, which activates once you reach approximately 10% of staff charge. The glide is best used when running or making risky plays, as the slow fall combined with self-healing gives you great leniency in dangerous situations. Try wrapping around usually impossible jumps on messy bridges or clutch at the last second when falling from great heights. These abilities also work wonders in combat with your teammates, making your healing invaluable.
Opponents may try to target you, so know when you need a teammate's protection or when to run if necessary. Upgrading the Mending Canopy makes the staff stronger in multiple ways. The tick-based healing becomes more rapid and heals more with each tick, making it unrivaled at max charge and tier. Knockback is introduced at tier II, harassing enemies as you float around them, and at tier III, you gain the ability to overcharge your staff instantly. These upgrades are vital for winning and are worth the investment.
Nyoka may not seem able to use enchants, but his Mending Canopy II's knockback counts as a hit. While Fire or Static enchants might seem appealing, focus on synergizing with Nyoka's healing potential instead. The Forest enchant adds to your max health with every knockback, and the Lifesteal enchant, combined with Forest, lets you gain substantial health and healing.
Nyoka works as a dedicated healer, synergizing with many kits. Fighter kits benefit from his healing, while defensive kits like Infernal Shielder, Cobalt, and Eldertree also gain advantages from his support. Nyoka's healing potential and survivability make him a hard target to kill and a crucial carry for the team. Make the most of his healing abilities, but also use the staff for its other uses such as gliding. With practice, you'll realize Nyoka can do more than just heal—he can make plays that can outright win the game if not stopped. Work with the light of the Mending Canopy to shine bright and shine even brighter when working as a team.
