Movement class Abilities[]

Cannon[]

Pirate Davey starts the match with a block of TNT and can buy cannons from the Item Shop for 40 IronCroppedIron, which can be used to fire TNT and players. The cannon shoots two blocks of TNT but only requires one to fire. It can also shoot Siege TNT in a similar manner to regular TNT. Any player, including enemies, are also able to launch themselves out of a cannon across large distances. Launching out of a cannon also inflicts the Powdered effect, which increases damage taken from launching themselves out of cannons by 10. This effect lasts 7 seconds but the damage taken increases when launching out of a cannon while the effect is active.

However, if a player has the grounded effect on them, they won't be able to launch themselves out of the cannon.

TNT Discount[]

Pirate Davey can purchase TNT with a 5 IronCroppedIron discount, now costing 30 IronCroppedIron instead of the usual 35 IronCroppedIron.

Ranged class Strategy[]

Pirate Davey can be an excellent mobility kit if used correctly, and also powerful for destroying enemy beds by shooting TNT from afar and then launching yourself in to finish off the bed.

Your cannons can be used to traverse the map extremely quickly, being able to launch yourself across large distances without cooldowns. So you should focus on getting a cannon as fast as possible to go across the map and collect diamonds and emeralds faster. A good idea is to place a cannon at your base, so that all of your teammates can also leave base and get to the center or anywhere else quickly.

Unlike other things that can be aimed, the cannon does not show an aiming line or an indicator of where you will land after firing yourself out of it. So you will have to practice with it a lot to prevent accidentally launching yourself into the void. It's a good idea to carry blocks with you so that you can quickly build up in case you fire yourself into a wall or the side of an island rather than on top of it. Also, though it's hard to do, you can re-use the cannon multiple times in one trip by breaking it just as you launch yourself out to collect it again so you can launch across multiple gaps without needing multiple cannons. Such techniques require skilled timing, though will be extremely rewarding when mastered. Do note that with a wooden pickaxe, a cannon takes 2 hits to break, but it only takes 1 hit with a stone pickaxe or higher, so you can buy a better pickaxe to do this method faster. While aiming the cannon you are susceptible to attacks so only do this if there's currently no one chasing you down or you are a sufficient distance ahead such that you can escape before they catch up to you. You should also carry multiple cannons with you if possible in case you mess up and don't break the cannon in time. Naturally, this requires a lot of iron, but you should be able to get diamonds quickly using the cannon to launch yourself to diamond generators, and then upgrade your team gen to spawn iron faster.

As for breaking beds, you should prioritize launching TNT from a cannon rather than manually placing since you can fire two TNT at the cost of only one, and it's also long range allowing you to explode enemy defenses from a safer distance. The trajectory for firing TNT is different than firing players so you should get used to aiming for firing TNT as well. Place the cannon at a reasonable distance from the bed you want to break, and then fire away to destroy your enemies. The rain of TNT can also be useful for deterring enemies since while one doesn't do that much damage, several exploding TNT falling onto an enemy base poses a threat which can damage enemies severely allowing you to easily kill them off or launching them into the void with the combined knockback. If enemy defenses are particularly tough you can also bring Siege TNT to break stronger defenses of stone and ceramic. Obsidian is still resistant to explosions though with enough firepower you can explode them. Then launch yourself with the cannon and use an axe to destroy the enemy bed once the defenses are gone.

Lastly, although it might not seem the most useful in direct combat, it does have some use cases when attacking enemies. If they are building up to try and escape or to heal, you can place your cannon and fire TNT onto their tower to explode them off or send them jumping off and taking fall damage. Though your enemy might see you aiming the cannon and press the opportunity to attack you so use at your own risk and be ready to react. You can also tower up to get a clearer shot and rain TNT onto the battlefield. This method is especially useful when entire teams are fighting.
