Whim is a kit added on September 23, 2022. His special item is the mage spellbook, which lets him shoot magical orbs that can have elements applied to them by finding and reading the 3 tomes of the Elements. He could be unlocked by reaching level 25 in the Season 6 Battle Pass. He is in the Fighter classfighter class.

Movement class Abilities[]

Mage spellbook[]

Main article: Mage Spellbook

Whim starts the match and spawns with a mage spellbook, which he can use to shoot out magical orbs at enemies, dealing 20 damage with a 1.1 second cooldown. These orbs apply light knockback when they hit enemies.

Elemental Knowledge[]

Main article: Tome of the Elements

30 seconds into the match, a tome of knowledge will spawn around the center of the map indicated by the announcement

ELEMENTAL KNOWLEDGE AWAITS...

A beam of light will guide the player to where it is located. More tomes will spawn throughout the match 180 seconds after collecting the previous tome until all 3 tomes are collected. Reading the tome will let Whim apply one of three elements into his orbs in a pre-set order: Nature, Fire and Ice that appear every 3rd orb shot. Eventually when all three tomes are read, Whim's orbs when shot will permanently have an element applied to them. Their element will cycle between Nature, Fire and Ice without any non-element orbs thrown at all.

Elemental Spell Effects
Element Damage Additional Effects
Nature 35 Heals the user 10% of the base damage per second on a successful hit for 3 seconds.
Fire 37 Applies a burn status effect to enemies hit, dealing rapid damage until the effect wears off or the enemy reaches low health.
Ice 40 Applies the Grounded effect to enemies hit.

Drawbacks[]

Because Whim is a mage, he specializes in magic, which means he cannot use melee weapons properly. This means that he deals 20% less damage with them, while also taking 10% more damage from all sources.

Fighter class Trivia[]

  • Contrary to popular belief, Whim wasn't nerfed.
    • The kit description was later updated to show the players that he had the disadvantages upon release. Most of the Season 6 battlepass kits at the time had their kit descriptions update.
  • Whim is currently the only kit that deals less damage with a specific weapon as a drawback from the kit.
  • Players that die while collecting the spell book will not be given a spell, and will be bugged for the rest of the game.
    • This has yet to be fixed.
  • Whim is also known as the "Mage".
  • Whim is the only kit to take increased damage as a drawback from the kit.
  • Whim is the only kit that can change the appearance of armor.
  • Whim and Zeno share magic-like similarities.
  • Whim's ability can imitate the most amount of enchants out of any other kit ability, totalling at 3 (Fire, Life Steal and Sticky (removed enchant)
  • There is a critical glitch that can randomly occur, disabling new elemental tomes from spawning for the rest of the match.
    • This is been patched.
  • If you die before reading an existing elemental tome, the beam guiding you towards it disappears.
  • For some reason, in the in-game Class system, Whim is considered a Fighter, even though the kit definitely belongs to Ranged.
    • Furthermore, its decreased melee damage makes him even worse of a Fighter.
  • Whim is the second kit having a ranged-damage item at the start of the game, first being Frosty and third being Flora.
    • It is questionable if Whisper also belongs to this category or not.
  • Even though the trajectory of the spells doesn't change when holding down aim button, the damage still increases the longer you hold it.
  • Whim got the most buffs out of any kit, having a total of 18.
  • Whim's kit description implies that Whim deals 20% less damage with swords, however Whim actually deals 15% less damage with swords, rather than 20%.
    • It also implies that Whim takes 5% more damage, however Whim will still take the same amount of damage.
